Dr. Callbeck studied nursing at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, but realised her lifelong dream to become a Veterinarian when she was accepted to the Ontario Veterinary College. She completed a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Guelph, and went on to finish her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1987. Dr. Callbeck and her husband, Dr. Snider, created Callbeck Animal Hospital in 1996. They have 2 sons. They have an active Golden Retriever named Mazie that has a passion for empty water bottles .
