To all our valued pet owners:

At Callbeck Animal Hospital, the health and safety of staff, pets, and pet owners is our first priority. Over the past week or more we have been implementing new measures almost on a daily basis to ensure that we are able to service you and your pets while keeping everyone’s well being foremost in our minds.

Firstly, we would like to reassure you that even in light of the announcement that all nonessential businesses close, we have thankfully been deemed essential. This does not mean ‘business as usual’ however. Although we are postponing annual wellness exams, we will still see pets that are in need of medical care including surgery. We are also dispensing medications and pet food.

In addition, we have established a locked door/curbside service policy. What this means is that we ask you to call the clinic from your car (905-438-1144) when you have arrived at our hospital. If you are picking up food or medication, we ask that you pay over the phone with a credit card and a staff member will then bring out your food/meds. *Please stay 6 feet from our staff member*. Also, please email us ([email protected]) or call ahead so we can make sure your food or medications are in stock and are ready for pick up.

If you are bringing a pet for medical care (please call to schedule an appointment), and call the clinic when you have arrived. Please exit your car to enable you to safely give your pet to our technician when she comes out of the building, again maintaining a safe distance from our staff member. Make sure cats are in carriers and dogs are securely on a leash. We will obtain a history of symptoms either outside (keeping a distance of 6 feet from you) or over the phone. We will take your pet into the hospital and perform a physical exam while you wait in your car. We will call you to discuss our findings and recommendations or speak to you outside while again maintaining a safe distance of 6 feet. Exceptions to this curbside policy will be for euthanasia only.

Please note: If you or anyone in your household have any symptoms of cold or flu OR if anyone in your household has travelled in the preceding 14 days, please advise our staff member prior to arrival so that we may take additional safety precautions.

Lastly, thank you for your support and understanding during this challenging time. I hope we have reassured you that we will continue to strive to provide you and your pet with the best possible compassionate care and service as we always have. We thank you in advance for your patience with the added time it may take for med/food pickups and pet appointments due to the increased safety measures we have implemented. We will continue to keep you updated as the situation changes. Stay well.
